The challenges highlighted by the pandemic have underlined a distinct need to support third sector organisations in realising the potential of digital technologies to support and enable their work. You may be able to offer this support. We want to utilise your enthusiasm and skill sets to help charitable organisations to achieve their objectives - a charity is founded to deliver impact in the world, for a wide range of stakeholders, and technology can empower that change. You will work as part of our community of tech specialists, making a material contribution to support the work of organisations in the third sector

All our solutions are open source, making them available to any organisation that can benefit from them, so the impact is amplified.

Who would I be working with?

Our community of volunteers is drawn mostly from the tech sector. We need support with a variety of our projects and would love your help from data analysis, backend development to project co-ordination. Delivering digital transformation takes many skills so please reach out even if you do not consider yourself technical - skills such as marketing and product development are vital too. We need your help to make a difference! Our volunteer community includes

How much time do I need?

You need to be able to commit your time and talents on a voluntary basis. We work around your availability as you are giving your time for free. Volunteering doesn’t commit you to a specific amount of time or project - we’ll match your skills with one of the projects that are open and if you want to participate in it, we’ll connect you up with the others that will be working on it. We just ask that you finish what you start.

How experienced do I need to be?

We work with our volunteers to ensure that they are placed on the projects appropriate for their skill level. Through paired-programming, mentoring and team work we ensure that we set you up for success. Many volunteers work through a series of projects to build up confidence and experience in the different roles in technology.

What type of projects could I be working on?

The pattern of requests change but we see a lot of charities looking for someone with experience to talk through their ideas. We have a number of app projects underway and plenty of demand for help understanding outcomes through data. Learn more about our work here.
